What This Program Offers
The 2026 Bandung Adult Immersion Program is designed to combine structured learning with meaningful cultural experience. Over two weeks, participants engage in daily Indonesian language study at the UPI Language Centre (Balai Bahasa), supported by a thoughtfully curated program of cultural and community engagement in Bandung.
The program balances academic structure with real-world interaction, allowing participants to strengthen their language skills while developing confidence communicating in everyday Indonesian contexts.
During the program participants will:
-
Participate in daily Indonesian language classes (BIPA) at a university campus
-
Engage with local students and the wider learning community
-
Experience guided cultural activities in and around Bandung
-
Develop practical communication skills in authentic settings
-
Receive local support and coordination throughout the program

Accommodation & Cultural Immersion
Accommodation is an integral feature of the program and has been carefully structured to provide both comfort and cultural depth.
Participants begin the program in comfortable Indonesian-style hotel accommodation located close to the university campus. This allows time to settle into Bandung and adjust to the rhythm of the program.
Midway through the immersion, participants spend six nights hosted in an Indonesian home. The homestay experience provides meaningful insight into daily life, language use in the household, and informal cultural exchange that cannot be replicated in a classroom setting.
Participants return to hotel accommodation for the final stage of the program, allowing space to consolidate learning and conclude the experience comfortably.
This combination of hotel and homestay offers both security and authenticity.
The Learning Environment
The language component of the program is
delivered through the Language Centre
(Balai Bahasa) atUniversitas Pendidikan
Indonesia (UPI),a well-established institution
with extensive experience in teaching
Bahasa Indonesia to international learners.
Prior to commencement, participants’ language ability is assessed and they are placed in small, ability-based groups — typically no more than three participants per class. This ensures individual attention, targeted instruction, and a supportive learning environment.
Each weekday morning comprises approximately three hours of structured Indonesian language tuition. Classes focus on practical communication, vocabulary development, grammar in context, and confidence building.
The afternoon program is designed to reinforce classroom learning through guided field activities. These excursions support topics studied during the morning sessions and provide authentic opportunities to use Indonesian in real-world contexts.
This integrated structure allows language learning to move beyond theory and into lived experience.
